Will my dog need to be vaccinated?

What will I need to provide for my dog?

Yes. Your dog should be vaccinated against parvo virus, leptospirosis, and distemper to protect it from illness. If, in extreme circumstances, your dog had to be boarded with kennels, they insist on vaccinated dogs only. Your dog must also undergo regular flea treatment.

Different dogs need different diets so we would ask you to bring sufficient food for the duration of your pet’s stay, as well as the dog’s bed/bedding/grooming equipment and treats to enable us to make it feel as much at home as possible.

A Dog Friendly Alternative to KennelsIf you are looking for an alternative to kennels try Norfolk Home Boarding for Dogs. Your dog will get cared for whilst you are away. Norfolk Home Boarding for Dogs will match your dog with a suitable carer.

No. Puppies under one year old, dogs with very boisterous, aggressive or nervous tendencies or incontinent dogs cannot be cared for by our carers. Your dog’s temperament will be discussed before we look for a suitable carer match.

Our dog carers are retired/semi retired people or people who spend their time at home. They all have enclosed gardens. All of our carers are carefully vetted and are happy for you to visit them before the boarding as they like to meet the dogs as well.

If your dog were to be taken ill during the boarding and required veterinary treatment, we would take your dog to a designated veterinary practice, but you would be responsible for reimbursing NHBD for the costs incurred.
